BLOOD IN THE AIRWAVES

Boston 2004

Natalie Mason, an intern at a small Boston newspaper, is researching a cryptic radio phenomenon with the hopes of publishing a human-interest story about her older sister, Audrey (who died alongside their domineering father in a car crash five years ago). The strange radio signal awakens a foreign presence inside Natalie that she calls ‘The Voice’. While unnerved that only she can hear the call of the static siren, her investigation leads to another who can hear the broadcast—her favourite heavy metal radio DJ.

Joshua Jones is a reclusive vampire (and bisexual disaster) who failed as a rockstar in the 1980s and now fills his nights of self-loathing by hosting his show and drinking heavily. When Natalie comes to his station seeking help, he thinks she’s an overly attached fan and dismisses her. That same night, a different vampire murders Natalie’s mother and attempts to abduct her, but she kills him in self-defence. Joshua takes her to his apartment to recover, where The Voice implores Natalie to ‘find me’, accompanied by a spectre of her sister. Thinking The Voice is Audrey’s lost soul calling for help, Natalie becomes determined to discover the origins of the broadcast and its connection to her beloved sister
